8th Annual Candlelight Ceremony Dec 13, 2015

Join us as we participate in The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candlelight Remembrance Ceremony to honor the memory of our children, Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 7 pm. Plan to gather by 6:30 at River Oaks Church in Harrisonburg (behind the old Shoneys.) Please feel free to bring pictures or mementos of your child/children to place on the remembrance table. We also encourage you to bring family and friends to celebrate your child with you and a snack to share following the ceremony.
Our service will consist of several readings, a song written and performed by Jessie Trainum, and a bereaved sibling dance choreographed and performed by Alaina Erbaugh and Taryn Zander.… Read the rest

Worldwide Candle Lighting Ceremony Sunday, Dec 8th, 7 p.m.

Join us as we participate in the Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting Ceremony to honor the memory of children gone too soon. Sunday, Dec. 8th, 7 p.m. at Sunrise Church of the Brethren 1496 S Main Street Harrisonburg. Please bring a snack to share following the ceremony and if you would like, a memento or photo of your child for the Remembrance Table.

The service will include:

* Welcome and announcements

* A reading

* A song

* A personal story

* A slideshow of children’s photos submitted by guests.(See submission details below.)

We are currently planning our annual Remembering Our Babies Walk in conjunction with National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day, October 15th, and our annual Candlelight Remembrance Ceremony in conjunction with the Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candlelight Ceremony, December 8th. Our December newsletter is filled with upcoming events like the Bereaved Parents Memorial Tree Service, the Candlelight Ceremony and a Christmas Coffee. It also includes “thank you’s” to many individuals and families, and opportunities to come together as bereaved families to remember our children together. Annual Worldwide Candlelight Remembrance Ceremony

Each year, The Sadie Rose Foundation participates in the Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candlelight Ceremony for families who have experienced the death of a child. This event is always held the second Sunday in December. This event is open to families who have experienced the death of a child of any age. Please pass this information on to anyone you know that might benefit from this ceremony.

Sadie’s stone is a beautiful memorial to her legacy.

Sadie’s stone has the Sadie Rose Foundation rose on the front and the name of the organization and our Scripture verse on the back. I love her stone, I love her place of rest, but it is so hard to spend time there. A cold hard tombstone cannot warm my mother’s heart or fill my empty arms. However, I am overcome with gratitude and love when I do visit, because someone regularly places flowers on her grave. Annual Memorial Picnic and Balloon Release

We invite you to join us for our 4th Annual Memorial Picnic and Balloon Release, June 22, 6 p.m. at Purcell Park in Harrisonburg, Shelter #2. See our June newsletter for information about the origin of this event and past balloon releases.
Drinks and table service provided. Bring a covered dish if you can. This is a time to share the love and memories of your child or children gone too soon. Families are welcome.
